Latest Updates from Our Project:

7 Days In, 7 Stretch Goals Unlocked
over 3 years ago – Mon, Sep 28, 2020 at 01:32:57 PM

Quick Update:

Let's just do a quick review of what we've unlocked so far: (More details of each can be found on the main campaign page!)

  • Balance Domain Cleric Subclass
  • Justiciar Background
  • Cosmic Spells
  • Aberrant Dragons Monster Template
  • Totally Authentic Recording of the Voice of Khaylûs
  • Wormhole Drakes
  • The Gauntlet: Arena System (Cosmic Edition)

We just keep shredding through these Stretch Goals, and it looks like that's only going to continue with the upcoming Dragon-Claw Sickle—a new special weapon for tearing into your foes with a razor-sharp, three-bladed sickle reminiscent of a dragon's claw.

More and more Stretch Goals! Onward!

Funding and Stretch Goal Update! (Day 6)
over 3 years ago – Sun, Sep 27, 2020 at 09:33:26 AM

Over 400% funded in less than a week!

The support for this project from all of you has been overwhelming! You've all already beyond exceeded my hopes and dreams for this, and I'm humbled to help bring some new inspiration to your game so that you can all keep on telling amazing stories at your table. :)

Stretch Goal content is well under way, and you can look forward to some playtest versions of the Balance Domain Cleric and Aberrant Dragons this week!!

Stretch Goal #7: 250 Backers!

A slightly different goal for a slightly different reward! When we hit 250 backers, all backers will get a free special edition copy of The Gauntlet: Arena System PDF. For those who don't already know, my journey of designing content for 5th edition began with creating this fast-leveling, party-based (not PvP) arena combat system for 5e. This sort of "mini-game mode" is specially designed as a low-prep system, perfect for a last-minute session when someone cancels or for getting try out all those character builds that you've had piling up on the backburner for years.

This Kickstarter-Exclusive edition of the PDF will include pregenerated arenas featuring the Cosmic Dragons (including the unlocked Wormhole Drakes and Aberrant Dragons)!

As I type this, we're at 217 backers, so make sure to share this around with your friends so we can all collectively enter the arena and take on some of these Cosmic Dragons! Let's do this!

Here it is. Stretch Goal #5: The Voice of Khaylûs
over 3 years ago – Fri, Sep 25, 2020 at 12:28:42 PM

The Cosmic Dragons may be far from evil...but if there was ever any doubt what separates them from the staunchly good Metallic Dragons—a few portentous words from Khaylûs themself:

And to highlight Khaylus's unusual...talents (an excerpt from the Cosmic Dragon Breviary):

Khaylûs bears an extraordinary ability, even among the gods: the ability to transcend the many realms of existence. Khaylûs’s pandimensional nature means their influence has the capacity to extend to the countless worlds of the Material Plane and all planes, known and unknown, even to lands otherwise divorced from deific forces.

Khaylûs is also known to be capable of traversing the unfathomable, distant realm of the Infinite Wastes—the series of writhing, sickly green tendrils that hangs from their jaw a byproduct of their time spent beyond this reality. For this reason, Khaylûs is heralded as one of the foremost deities for clerics of the infinity domain.

We just shot past Stretch Goals #3 & 4! (And more announcements)
over 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 24, 2020 at 10:27:07 AM

This is really getting to be quite incredible. I'm floored by the support from everyone and so excited to get this out.

In the interest of my commitment to getting the final book in your hands reasonably quickly after the campaign finishes (October 21st) and pledges process (about 2 weeks later), Stretch Goals will also start to include some other really fun options for the community to enjoy, if not necessarily new content to be included in the book. (But we're not done there yet, so hang tight!)

Upcoming Stretch Goals and More

We easily catapulted past Stretch Goals #3 (Cosmic Spells) and #4 (Aberrant Dragons), which I have already begun working on. So for our next Stretch Goal ($3500), we will get to hear from the formidable voice of Khaylûs. That's right, we will soon be graced with the portentous words of the Dimensional Dragon deity themself. Really looking forward to this one. :D

Due to the exceptional enthusiasm and support for this project thus far, I have made accommodations to add ten more slots to the $100 pledge level, which includes a signed copy of the book, and getting your name printed and gilded in the credits at the front of each copy as a Phantasmagorical Backer.

I've got even more exciting ideas for upcoming stretch goals, so let's keep it going! If you haven't yet, please share this around with your friends that may be interested. Together, let's shoot for the stars!

Stretch Goal #2...ECLIPSED. (And what's on the horizon)
over 3 years ago – Tue, Sep 22, 2020 at 07:10:52 PM

We busted through that second Stretch Goal with haste! Everyone can now look forward to the new "Justiciar" background—for those looking to enrich their backstory by embodying the likes of judges, city guards, and other magistrates of the law in their past.

And now...two new Stretch Goals!

  • First up, at $2500 we'll unlock a few “Cosmic Spells” centered around the flavor-rich themes of balance, space, and the varied abilities of the cosmic dragons.
  • And after that, we'll unlock one of my favorite, relatively underdeveloped options in 5e: a Monster Template for Aberrant Dragons! Similar to the Shadow Dragon template in the core rulebooks, this can be applied to any type of dragon—opening up at least 60 new monster possibilities. This will represent a dragon's exposure to, or time spent in, the inexplicable unreality beyond the multiverse, home to the mysterious Great Old Ones. I refer to this place, rooted in Lovecraftian themes, as the “Infinite Wastes” (though this realm has another very far out name in official lore), and it is a domain frequented by Khaylûs and perhaps their closest followers.

I am so humbled by all your support so far, and I genuinely can't wait to see how much more we can build here together! Now let's go shatter some more stretch goals!
